でぶコーネリアスの千秋藤田がフロントに立つ極楽音楽集団の初作。スティールパンやサックスの開放感満点な音色をベースにサンバ、ラテン、ソウル、ジャズなどを採り入れた爽快なパーティー・サウンドを紡ぐ彼ら。懐かしの歌謡曲も視野に入れたソングライティングもゴキゲンで、“林檎殺人事件”や“ときめきトゥナイト”を連想させる常夏系グルーヴィー・チューン“クライマックス”が白眉。夏が来る前に知っとくべきね。

The first release from the ‘music mob from paradise’, Japonica Song Sun Bunch led by Chiaki Fujita, frontman of hard core punk band Dev Cornelius. Samba, Latin, soul and jazz sounds are weaved in to the fabric of sounds painted with a sense of fresh openness and colored with the tones of steel pans and saxophone, forming the most exhilarating party tunes. The songwriting reflecting the goodness of Japanese golden oldie tunes is in excellent shape, amongst which everlasting-summerish groovy tune “Climax” stands out, reminding one of the likes of the original boy-idol Hiromi Go’s “Ringo Satsujinjiken” or other sweet anime theme songs. A piece that should be mastered before summertime arrives!
