The pride of Japan, 'modern' funk band Q.A.S.B. releases long-awaited CD of its globally talked-about album!

Q.A.S.B. Q.A.S.B. II Soul Garden/ラストラム(2014)

It's only the past 10 years that the so-called 'modern' funk bands, not simply dwelling on live sounds, but taking roots in the post deep funk rare groove movements, have been crowding the world famous dance floors. 2005 formed Tokyo band, Q.A.S.B is one such band that has a queen singer at the core, just like Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.

Frontwoman Amy A's singing evokes the James Brown family divas, and the backing players display obvious heavy influence from The JB's or the early Kool & the Gang, mainly throwing down original tracks from danceable heavy funk to lusty slow tunes. The initial seven-inch became a huge hype amongst funk DJs or collectors in Europe even at a fairly early stage from its release. Following a sudden surge of reputation after being picked up in a mixed CD by RYUHEI THE MAN (funk/soul/rare groove/hip hop DJ and record shop owner), their limited analog version second album, "Q.A.S.B. II" was decided to be released as a CD. Including songs like "The Mexican" produced by the RYUHEI and of which the seven-inch was sold-out at the spot, the album is a temperature raising soulful piece with a splendid blend of funky whoops and swirling emotions.
