La PomPon, a six-piece unit who was catapulted from Roppongi (one of the most popular nightlife districts in Tokyo, or probably in Japan) with the first single "BUMP!!" after the turn of the year, is gaining power with the approach of spring. Their second single "HOT GIRLS" was finally dropped after three months since the previous one, and you'll find it's a catchy piece having fresher attraction.
Suit for this season, the title track is a cute, light number expressing aspirations trying to become 'HOT GIRLS' they idealize, being their age. Comical, tomboyish and K-Pop-like flows and accessible melodies are impressive, and the vocals dominated by YUKINO and KIRI demonstrate that they have obviously improved their expression abilities. Not to mention the all-hands chorus, their vaunted dancing skills are better and sharper than in their previous single, making the music video is nicely lively and boisterous.
The coupling track on the first limited edition A/B is "Koi wa Zouk☆Dance (meaning Love is Zouk Dance)" in sultry and passionate Latin rhythms. Don’t miss their performances much different from the title track. On the other hand, the regular version has a different coupling song "Step by Step - Roppongi de Ganbaru Watashitachi (meaning Step by Step - We Who Work Hard at Roppongi)." This is something like a sequel to the song "Roppongi no Uta♪(meaning Song of Roppongi)" which sings about their struggle in the early years. In this sequel, they express the vision and goal they are holding since their debut with the lyrics co-written by YUKINO, the leader and main vocalist of the unit.
