新体制では初となる約2年ぶりのフル・アルバムも、とにかくエクストリーム! ポップ・パンクとソカを横断する爽快感抜群の“Swing It!!”など、〈何曲分のパターンをぶっ込んでくんのよ?〉と言わずにはいられない曲展開は、相変わらず大胆不敵かつ予測不能。なかでも、リンプ・ビズキットを彷彿とさせるダーティーなラップ・メタル・パートを盛り込んだ“Nail the Shit Down”が新鮮だ。十八番であるキャッチーなシンセで牽引するスタイルも健在だが、ちょっと抑えめにしている印象もあって、最強の武器を使わずに挑む6人の気概を感じさせる。そういう意味で、次の段階へ進んだということからこの作品名なのかもしれないが、これでまだ〈第2段階〉っていうんだから末恐ろしい。

Under the new format after changing the band formation last year, the 1st full-length album in two years from the post-hardcore/screamo/electronicore/metalcore superb Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas has reached us duly. Fully loaded with perfectly unpredictable and fearless tunes, the extremely extreme new piece just makes me shout 'how many song patterns are enough for just one song?' as proved in pop/punk/soca-crossover and totally refreshing "Swing It!!". The Limp Bizkit-inspired dirty blend of rap with metal "Nail the Shit Down", among all, stands out exposing another new element. As usual the signature ear-catching synthesizer-led style remains yet in a more low-key approach than before, making us feel the self-confidence of the mighty six even less reliant on their most powerful musical weapon for this time. As the title reads, the band seemingly claims only to have proceeded to the phase 2 and if so, what comes next? Honestly, a bit scary to face the next phase already.
