Producer, multi-player and alumnus of RBMA (Red Bull Music Academy, the world-renowned workshop and festival series for selected participants,) known for discovering exceptionally gifted artists as Flying Lotus, Hirotaka Umetani releases debut CD under the name of his solo unit, Albino Sound. Incorporating symbolic tunes such as “Culture,Over again” that causes catharsis by its ice cold hammer beats and minimalized chords, or the urban tribal dance track “library” in which a double x double effect from the dry triplet produces a trancey avalanche to your semicircular canals, the album embodies the influence from Clark, Boards of Canada, Can, Arthur Russell (whom he openly mentions the names occasionally) and the way he intentionally boosts those influences by his casual and sporty functionality, is nicely refreshing. Paying no attention to geek or hype-sides, the last track filled with his love for Aphex Twin’s “Ambient Works” goes straight to the heart, thanks to his heartfelt and sincere approach to music. A timeless masterpiece!
