oono yuukiのバンドなどで活躍する新間功人を中心に結成された6人組のCDデビュー作。ジャズやカントリーをベースにした日本語のポップスという意味では、メンバーが重複している森は生きているにも通じるが、このバンドの持ち味は何より〈楽団〉と呼ぶに相応しい管楽器のアンサンブルの豊かさ。トランペットやフルートがタイプの異なる2人のヴォーカリストの歌を華やかに彩り、楽曲のイメージを決定付けている。

1983, the six-membered band led by Takuto Shimma, known for also playing in oono yuuki’s band, has made a CD debut. 1983 shares similar qualities with the folk/indie rock band, Mori Wa Ikiteiru, that share some of the members, in the sense that both bands sing jazz or country-based pop songs in Japanese. However the uniqueness of this band may be the richness in their wind instruments’ ensemble, qualifying the band to be also called ‘an orchestra’. The trumpet and flute embellishes the songs by the two contrasting types of vocalists, enhancing the images of each track.
