Oh Shu  "PICTURE"

Making an about-turn from his previous release that beautifully rings out band ensembles played by the array of guest artists he teamed up with, this latest piece from Oh Shu, the Shanghai born singer-songwriter, was recorded completely on his own at his home studio, but his usual airy openness remains unchanged, even with the instrumental tracks of heavy machine-programmed sounds. Beginning with the jazz pop number “Roji”, a naïve yet affable sound world spreads throughout the album. Tracks such as the afebrile disco funk tune “Moebius” or the country-ish “Ai ga Atte (meaning There’s Love)” sung with his guitar are used as the accents of two extremes, and the sincerity in the ever mellow tone of his singing allows the listener to sit back and enjoy a relaxing breather.
