リード曲“STEP”では笹路正徳をプロデューサーに迎えるなど、〈ポップ・ミュージック〉に真っ向から取り組んだのが随所で伝わるセカンド・アルバム。〈さよなら〉を見事に希望へと昇華させた同曲のほか、“瞬き”では死別によって生まれた感情をしみじみと刻んでおり、バンドの表現力が著しく上がっていることを窺わせる。スモーキーな声の活かし方、瑞々しい歌詞に合うサウンドも掴んできたようだ。

Welcoming the big time producer Masanori Sasaji (known for producing SPITZ, Seiko Matsuda etc.) for their lead single “STEP,” Balls’ second album shows the band’s direct approach towards ‘pop-music’ in many forms. Added to the aforementioned song that transforms ‘good bye’ into hope, in “Mabataki (meaning Blink)”, the band inscribes emotions brought on from bereavement. It seems evident that the band has improved their level of expression exponentially, along with leveraging the vocal’s smoky tone and sound that captures their fresh lyrics.
