On June 20, Intoxicate Vol. 182 “Nude of Silence” will be available.
The cover features Koji Tamaki, who is simultaneously releasing two of his latest live concert video works on July 15, each coming with a 2-disc UHQCD set. Don’t miss out on his nationwide tour information as well!
In the “Exotic Grammar” section, we feature three articles on Paavo Järvi, Hideki Matsutake, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi. First, we look back at twenty years of Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (DKAM). Meanwhile, four hidden gems of early Japanese synthesizer music have been reissued under the supervision of Hideki Matsutake! He also shared his precious memories of working with Isao Tomita. Furthermore, Director Ryusuke Hamaguchi — who has won major awards at all three of the world’s top film festivals and took home the Academy Award® for Best International Feature Film for Drive My Car — has completed his highly anticipated new film. His latest, All of a Sudden feeling unwell (released on Friday, June 19), is a must-watch.
Our “Pick Up” section highlights a staple of summer: the Suntory Hall Summer Festival. Ryusuke Numajiri, a conductor discusses “Weaving Time,” a special program celebrating the hall’s 40th anniversary, as well as the new ensemble “Go for It” (on next issue we will highlight Luca Francesconi, a composer.) Another highly anticipated annual event is Composium at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. This year’s featured composer is Jörg Widmann.
Be sure to also check out our exclusive interviews with Kuniko Kato, Shun Ishiwaka, Maria Schneider, Nobuo Uematsu & Rie Totsuka, Hibiki Mukai, Lahav Shani, and Jakub Józef Orliński & Michał Biel.
On our long-running and highly popular 4-panel comic column “Hito Koma Goma” at the back of the issue, enjoy learning about the personal favorites of four creators this month: Akiko Nakayama, Wakeys, Yukki from Kamengumi, and Masakatsu Takagi.
