フォーリン・エクスチェンジ一派のマルチ奏者が3年ぶりに放つ新作。閉店となったワシントンDCの老舗ジャズ・クラブで撮影したジャケからもルーツを継がんとする姿勢が伝わってくるアルバムは、フォンテはもちろん、サイ・スミス、ムスィーナー、カーメン・ロジャース、タミーシャ・ワデンといった常連の女性シンガーを投入し、アナログ・シンセなどを駆使した温かな音色で軽やかに駆け抜けていく爽快な一枚だ。前作で評判を呼んだウィスパーズ風ブギーの続編的なコズミック・ソウル“Starlight”、マイゼル・ブラザーズと組んだマーヴィン・ゲイ（の多重コーラス）を彷彿とさせるエリック・ロバーソン客演の“A Season”、スティーヴィー・マナーのシンセを鳴らして亡き父に捧げたフュージョン風インスト“For Pops”など、クラシック・ソウルへの憧憬が随所に顔を出す内容は誠実そのもの。ジョイが歌うブギー・ダンサー“Just Whatcha Like”、ドーニクがMJばりのデリケート・ヴォイスで舞う“Lifelines”にも降参するしかない。

First album in 3 years from ZO!, the multi-instrumentalist who belongs to the Foreign Exchange label. The image for the album cover shot in a closed-down old jazz club in Washington D.C. shows his intention to uphold the roots of jazz. Featuring such regular female singers as Phonte, Sy Smith, Muhsinah, Carmen Rodgers and Tamisha Waden, this refreshing album sprints along with its warm tones created using analog synth among others. He faithfully expresses his admiration for classic soul here and there, as in the cosmic soul tune "Starlight" that is somewhat like a sequel to the much-talked about The Whispers-inspired boogie on the last album, "A Season" featuring Eric Roberson which reminds you of (the multi-chorus by) Marvin Gaye and The Mizell Brothers, and the fusion-ish instrumental "For Pops" with Stevie-mannered synth that is dedicated to his late father. Also, get knocked out by the boogie dancer "Just Whatcha Like" featuring Joi or "Lifelines" sung by Dornik in a MJ-inspired delicate voice.
