CMや映画、展示作品までも多くの方面に楽曲提供を行い、新たな境地を見出してきたAkira Kosemura、5年ぶり6作品目のオリジナルアルバム。前作『how my heart sings』はピアノを主軸とした構成のアルバムでしたが、今作では電子音、ヴァイオリンやゲストヴォーカルを多く取り入れ、ピアノの音色を最大限に生かし且つ他楽器とのハーモニーが美しく奏でられている。1曲1曲が幻想的サウンドでアルバムを通して美しさを描写している、まるで印象派絵画のような作品。やなぎなぎ、NIKIIE、デヴェンドラ・バンハートなど豪華なゲスト・ヴォーカル陣にも注目。
実に5年ぶり、6枚目のオリジナル・アルバム。ピアノを主軸に据え、弦楽器やアコースティック・ギターを寄り添わせたたおやかなアンサンブルを展開しているのだが、なんと言っても約半数の楽曲にヴォーカリストを迎えているのが本作の特色だろう。デヴェンドラ・バンハートと幽玄な世界を紡ぐ“Someday”や、NIKIIEがワルツのなかを泳ぐ“South Wind”といった歌モノが、これまでにないポップな表情を覗かせます。

5 years indeed since the previous, known as an accomplished composer for numerous notable works, Akira Kosemura’s 6th solo studio album has been delivered. Duly setting his signature piano at its center, the full-length album unfolds graceful and willowy ensembles of string instruments and acoustic guitar, but the highlight of this latest is that it features prominent guest singers on almost half tracks. Depicting a yugen (profound grace and subtlety) world with American indie star Devendra Banhart on “Someday” or with “South Wind”, the track in which Japanese female singer-songwriter Nikiie swims in the flow of waltz, the album gently discloses his pop side more than ever before.
