大島&大谷の両者で横浜の試聴室その2にて開催されたマンスリー企画(何とイヴェント内で作詞/曲、編曲、録音して披露するというもの)で出来上がった12の楽曲を収録。冒頭はsimの2人らしく微分リズムを取り入れたトラックだが、2曲目以降は旋律が軸の曲、即興ラップ、弾けない楽器を使うetc.思いつきレベルのアイデアも取り入れた楽曲が続き、聴き手の態度を惑わす事必至。simでの活動、また大島弧回大谷相対性理論とのコラボ〜批評etc.これまでの両者の軌跡、感性が素にならざるを得ない状況も手伝ってダイレクトに音盤化されているのが他の作品には無い本作の魅力!

Teruyuki Oshima & Yosio Ootani "The Pacific saury & Tonight"

A unique album recording the 12 tracks created during the monthly events held by Teruyuki Oshima, leader and guitarist of experimental music band sim, and Yosio Ootani, musician/critic and member of sim likewise, where at a certain listening booth No. 2 in Yokohama, the two write, compose, arrange, record and perform their musical creations at the spot. The album starts off with tracks introducing microrhythms, unsurprising from the two from sim, but from the second track and beyond follows tunes that appears to be adopting offhand ideas, such as placing certain melodies at the core of the piece, impromptu rap, or using instruments neither of them can play etc., bound to confuse listeners of the ways they take in the music. Also due to the situation where the sensibility or career of each, such as their involvements in sim, Oshima's activities in his other acoustic band Koe, or Ootani's collaboration with Japanese band Soutaiseiriron as well as his activities as a music critic etc. has to be once brought back to null, the tracks are recorded in a more straightforward manner, making this certain album a so much tasteful product compared to others.
