Toshinobu Kubota "L.O.K"
His new work is finally out after the bossa nova project album a year and a half ago. The reason why it is okay to describe this as 'typically Kubota' or to feel that 'it is a response to the modern trend in US urban sounds' is because, this time again, his inbred pop talent and breath as an R&B lover are blended at a perfectly high level. His allies Yoichiro Kakizaki (producer, arranger, composer and pianist) and Daisuke Mori (singer-songwriter) shared most of the arrangements. The only guest in this work is AKLO, a half-Mexican and a half-Japanese rapper, in "Cosmic Ride". Pretty witty and a great timing to enjoy "Free Style", a merry homage to Marvin Gaye’s "Got To Give It Up".
