Leveraging her career of once belonging to the New York based label, Neon Gold Records, and entering the limelight for co-performing with Zedd, being featured in his award-winning song, here’s her second release 2 years after her debut release that was centered around upper tone rave pop. In this second piece from the artist, the focus has strongly been concentrated on the vocals, newly welcoming Rick Nowels and Dan Wilson to the production. With that lineup of guest performers on her record, it may appear to one that her music is something in line of Adele. But there is no set-tone even in the most dramatic of her ballads, and because of the tomboyish singing, she proves to be the folksy figure from top to bottom with the sweet little fox she is. Including “Body Talk” that has a tone similar to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”, or “Cruel” that nears the sounds of tropical house with the slight taste of soca, the power of each song easily outweighs the dashy arrangements, even in electrical spectacular dazzling numbers. The greatest highlight of this album would be the unconstrained slow number offered from Babyface, “Scar”. An aspiring piece of work that tries to demonstrate the raw charms of a singer –as well indicated in the picture of the braless artist on the cover!
