完全に後出しジャンケンなわけだが、つまりAPOGEEとは〈早すぎたチルウェイヴ・バンド〉だったということになる。シンセ・サウンドを全面に押し出したニューウェイヴ・リヴァイヴァリストにして、ファンクやソウルといったブラック・ミュージックの要素も内包していた彼らの存在は、気付けばモードのど真ん中に位置していた。そんなバンドの5年ぶりとなる新作は、時代の空気を吸い込んだクリアなプロダクションと、いまやCM音楽作家としても活躍する永野亮の職人的なソングライティングが光る好盤に仕上がっている。メランコリックな空気も感じられるが、むしろ表題通りに青の時代に別れを告げ、新しい一歩を踏み出した4人の前向きな姿勢が伝わってくることが嬉しい。ファンタスティック!

Trying hard not to make it sound like an excuse, but actually to think about it now, it turns out that APOGEE was a real Chillwave band who emerged way too far ahead of the times. As a New Wave revivalist greatly focusing on the synthesizer sound while tactically containing 'black'(Afro-American) music factors such as funk and 'soul' inside, the band smoothly gained the center position in the 'mode' (current latest music scene) even before our recognition. Demonstrating airy, clear production style of present and artisanal songwriting by vocal/guitar/highly-acclaimed CM composer Ryo Nagano for this time, the 1st full-album in five years puts everything nicely together. With a slight touch of melancholy yet departing from the blue era as the title implies, so happy to feel the positive approach of the four members briskly taking one step forward. Fantastic!
