Kazuya Yoshii’s Yoshii Funk Jr.: Kore ga Genten!!
Kazuya Yoshii, known as the singer-songwriter and the vocalist of famous rock band, The Yellow Monkey, released a cover album for the first time in his career. In this comfortable entertainment piece, the band sounds glamorous and stout. On that, he relaxedly sings Japanese pop tracks from the 60s to 80s: the legendary Japanese pop singer, Hibari Misora's “Makkana Taiyo (meaning The Crimson Sun,” ‘The Queen of the Pops’ Mieko Hirota’s “Ningyo no Ie (meaning A Doll’s House,)” a popular singer-songwriter and a famous Group Sounds band The Tigers’ vocalist, Kenji Sawada’s “Omae ga Paradise (meaning You Are the Paradise,)” and an established influential rock band Happy End’s vocalist, Ohtaki Eiichi’s “Saraba Siberia (meaning Farewell to Siberia.)” The styles vary, but what the tracks have in common is that they all extract Japanese spirit and Western learning. As stated in the subtitle Kore ga Genten (meaning This is the Starting Point,) this is his starting point.
