“私以外私じゃないの”“ロマンスがありあまる”ほか、2015年にリリースしたシングル曲もたっぷり収めたセカンド・フル・アルバム。でも全17曲となると、既発曲はもっと絞っていい気もする。北欧インディーを思わせる美しいコーラスが煌めく“セルマ”、スティールパンの配音が絶妙すぎる“いけないダンス”と、初出の曲のクォリティーだって異常に高いんだから。それにしても、〈ヒップホップ・プログレ・バンド〉なんて形容をキャッチコピーにしていた時代はどこへやら。すっかりJ-Popに溶け込んだ彼らが、本作ではさらなるシニカルさとキャッチーなメロディーで現代人の憂いや心の揺らぎに迫る。川谷絵音は世間をよく見ている。でなきゃ、“勤めるリアル”のようなエグイイ曲を作れるわけがない。

Gesu no Kiwami Otome (eng. Girl at the Height of Rudeness)  "Ryoseibai"

Second full album by Gesu no Kiwami Otome that comes with a plentiful number of singles released in 2015 including “Watashi Igai Watashi Jyanaino (meaning Nobody Except Me is Me)” and “Romance ga Ariamaru (meaning Romance is Lavish).” With 17 tracks in total, I think they could’ve cut out some of the pre-released tracks. I say that because the qualities of the new tracks are pretty damn high including “Selma” with its sparkling beautiful chorus reminiscent of a Nordic indie and “Ikenai Dance (meaning Naughty Dance)” with the exquisite steelpan arrangements. By any measure, the band’s former copy describing themselves as a “hip-hop progressive rock band” seems entirely a thing of the past. It seems the band has completely immersed itself in J-Pop, and in this work, approaches the melancholy and fluctuation of the hearts of modern people with even intensified cynicism and catchy melodies. Enon Kawatani is quite observant of life, otherwise, brutally wonderful tracks like “Tsutomeru Real (meaning The Reality of Work)” would be impossible to write.
