京都出身、ベースレス編成の3ピースによる、結成10年目にして初のフル作。関西の偉大なる先輩たちにも通じるミニマリズムを根底に置いた、フレーズを反復するキーボードとジャズ寄りのドラミングは、要所で挿入される音響処理も含め、かつてのシカゴ周辺のポスト・ロックを連想させる端正なもの。しかし、子供っぽい声質のラップがとぼけた味わいを加え、人懐っこいポップ・ミュージックに着地しているのが素晴らしい。

Moozmz "Flashing Magic"
The very first full album by Moozmz, the bass-less three-piece band from Kyoto celebrating their tenth year, has been released. Following some of their great predecessors from the Kansai region, this band uses minimalism at its base. Repeated phrases from the keyboard and jazzy drums, as well as insertions of sound processings at key moments are done exquisitely, reminding you of the post-rock sounds of the good old Chicago scene. Though at the same time, it’s also remarkable the band landed with a friendly pop-music in the end with their rapping in childlike-voice that adds a humorous touch to the whole.
