通算4作目のフル・アルバムとなる本作で、キノコホテルが驚くべき飛躍を遂げた。ジュリエッタ霧島が新ベーシストに加わったことでアンサンブルのボトムはあきらかに太くなり、高速のガレージ・パンク・チューンでも粘着するようなグルーヴが感じられるのだ。なかでも7分間に渡ってワンフレーズで突っ切るキノコホテル流クラウトロック“Fの巡回”は圧巻。このストイックな反復のカッコ良さには抗えない。

Kinoco Hotel’s Marianne no Jubaku (meaning Marianne’s Curse)
Kinoco Hotel, the Japanese all-mushroom-haired four-girl rock band, has taken a dramatic step forward with their latest 4th full-length album. (FYI, ‘kinoco’ or ‘kinoko’ means mushroom.) Welcoming Julietta Kirishima as new bassist, the bass tone of the ensemble is definitely thicker and heavier, producing a viscous groove even in a fast garage punk tune. “F no Junkai” (meaning The Cyclic F) is an impressive Kinoco Hotel-interpreted Krautrock track with a single phrase running for a 7 minutes span. Absolutely NOT possible to fight off the coolosity of the stoic repetition.
