COMPUMA feat. Takehisa Ken
"SOMETHING IN THE AIR -the soul of quiet light and shadow layer-"

Highly-recognized DJ especially known for his unique activities in recent years, Koichi Matsunaga a.k.a. COMPUMA’s very 1st solo album is a remarkable field recording at a tea plantation in the mountains, made in celebration of 150th anniversary of Uji Koen, a long-established green tea company in Kyoto. Following the proper authentic tea production procedures, the sound materials ‘harvested’ in the tea fields are ‘steamed’ and ‘kneaded’ with guest artist Takehisa Ken’s marvelous guitar play and other electronic tones, and then ground with a brilliant editing/mixing scheme, finally forming an amazingly aromatic soundscape. Mere ‘wabi sabi (a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection)’ wouldn’t be enough to describe this very modern piece of work that makes us feel a nice relaxing grassy breeze here.
