マッド・ディセントやOWSLA周辺で腕を磨き、2013年に本国スウェーデンと配信限定でフル・アルバムを発表。この時点までは、M.I.A.やサンティゴールドに連なる風変わりな女子だと思っていました。でも、正式な世界デビューとなる本作は、そんな期待をイイ意味で裏切る（&上回る）一枚だったのです。もっとも、メジャー・レイザー制作／ジプシャン客演によるハウシーなダンスホールだったり、スクリレックスの手掛けたエキゾ・ベースだったりも確認できるのですが、そこはDrルークの総監督として果たした役割が大きかったのでしょう。モコモコした青春エモトロニカ、得意のラガなフロウをフル活用したアジーリア・バンクスとのアイランドR&B、アイコナ・ポップ的なユニゾン・コーラスを用いた電子ポップなどなどが、キモサベらしい大衆性を纏って賑やかに陳列。かつてのレーベル仲間であるケシャはもちろん、グウェン・ステファニーの最新作にも近い雰囲気が楽しいです。

Having cut her teeth as an affiliate of Mad Decent and OWSLA and released a digital-only full length album in her homeland Sweden in 2013, ELLIPHANT appeared to be a quirky artist in the lineage of M.I.A. and Santigold. Making her world debut, however, “Living Life Golden” wonderfully goes against and beyond our expectations. It is in part because of Skllirex’s exotic bass and a housey dancehall tune produced by Major Lazer and joined by Gyptian, though it is Dr. Luke playing the major role as an executive producer here. He lends the album, the label Kemosabe’s characteristic popular appeal with a bustling juxtaposition: a bitter sweet emotive electronica cut, a tropical R&B tune fully equipped with Azealia Banks’ ragga flow, an electro pop track with Icona Pop-esque unison chorus and more. This album creates an exuberant mood similar to ex-Kemosabe artist Kesha and Gwen Stefani’s latest album.
