Yusuke Sato  "UNLIMITED"

A collection of piano pieces composed by Yoshihisa Hirano, who produced incidental music for the anime [DEATH NOTE] as well as orchestration for the role-playing video game [F.F.XIII] or ALI PROJECT (Japanese band with a strong Japanese Aristocrat-style image). His sonata, deviating from traditional context, has a new generation vibe, with the fast movement being dominated by percussive block chords and the slow movement with improvisational phrases on the bass beats, playing like a fugue in the latter half of it. A paranoiac exercise would be expected to be seen in "Yugade Kanshotekina Radio Taiso (meaning Graceful and sentimental radio exercises)." "Ginga Tetsudo no Yoru (meaning Night on the Galactic Railroad)" consisting of short pieces that sounds sometimes prosaic and sometimes personal, proves Hirano's prowess as an incidental music composer, but also makes one wonder whether it’s paying homage to Ravel. In addition, the witty and frank commentaries by the composer himself and his old friend from the Eastman School of Music are a must-read.
