Maron Hamada - "Lady Monochrome"
The Showa era (1926-89), jazz, baddy - these are the words often used to describe Maron Hamada. The Japanese female artist has created a sensation with her single "Miren Butterfly," produced by Japanese record producer Tatsuo Sunaga and also included in one of the “Night Jazz” compilation series by the producer. Hamada returns with her third album "Lady Monochrome," which, as its cover art implies, draws a monochrome soundscape punctuated by vivid primary colours. Here, her snazzy singing charm of nostalgic hue comes into full bloom, standing in relief with each elaborately-wrought track. Also notable are two tracks SWING-O arranges, one of which is newly written by the Japanese pianist/composer/producer, setting the stage for Hamada to demonstrate her soul ballad prowess.
