Shuya Okino's new project is an authentic sextet involving such players as Yusuke Hirado (quasimode) and Shinpei Ruike. They reinterpret Blue Note works from the 1960s with a modern sensibility. The foundation of the music is straight, modal jazz recorded in one take. One can see the minimalism of Herbie Hancock's "Succotash" as well as the shadows of Theo Parish. Naruyoshi Kikuchi, the jazz musician/saxophonist/singer, plays saxophone on two songs, including a cover of Kyoto Jazz Massive's big hit, "Eclipse".
