初フル・アルバムから1年余りを経て到着したEP。今回もヒップホップ／R&Bを消化したクールでメロウなバンド・サウンドに軸足を置きつつ、ラップにフォーカスした“No border”やジュークのビートが炸裂する“FLAVOR”など、新たなアプローチも詰まった5曲を披露している。とりわけリズムのヴァリエーションを広げんとする意志の窺える作品だが、一方で歌とメロディーで勝負する“YES”のシンプルな力強さも印象的。

About a year since the first full-length album, rising indie pop unit CICADA has just delivered its new EP. While anchored on their usual hip hop/R&B-hinged cool and mellow band sound, these 5 tracks brilliantly expose a new approach also, as in the rap-focused “No border” or “FLAVOR” bursting with juke beats. This newest release clearly demonstrates their determined quest for further rhythm variations while in the meantime, the sing&melody-empowered track “YES” also leaves a striking impression with its pure and simple dynamism.
